I'm not sure how to use Malware when it's found a threat. I realise now that might have been another hoax. After reading the posts here, I realise that this Mac Cleanup Pro is a hoax but I'm worried that it might have installed something? I also think that recently I had a message saying my Adobe needed updating so I clicked on it. Library/LaunchAgents/ If I clean this up will it compromise my start-up and will I lose information? The other threats are PUP.Mac Cleanup Pro and lists 6 items relating to that. One which I'm concerned about is OSX.Genieo which seems to be the thread to. So I ran a Malware check and it's found 7 threats. I did a re-start and got a message from Mac cleanup to say it had found issues and threats. When I uploaded my website, it usually goes to Firefox. I cannot upgrade my Macbook Pro to Catalina, because I cannot run my Microsoft Office applications on Catalina. My son’s Macbook Pro (late 2011, running High Sierra) doesn't have this problem but he has Microsoft Office version 15.41. It seems odd that only two people reported this issue so far. Rasmussen reported the same issue in the AVG Community he is using a paid version of AVG. I searched the internet and haven't found a solution.

I guess the Microsoft Office Microsoft_AutoUpdate_1301_Updater.pkg software has burrowed itself deeply into my Mac. Then I re-ran AVG several times the same threat is reported and it will not resolve. I searched the Library for "Microsoft," and moved two plist files to Trash: I went into the Libraries, found Microsoft AutoUpdate.app and moved it to Trash. I uninstalled AVG Antivirus and re-installed it.

I run Microsoft Office version 16.16.15. After support for Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac ended on October 13, 2020, when running an AVG Antivirus Deep Scan, Microsoft_AutoUpdate_1301_Updater.pkg is reported as a Potentially Unwanted Program threat (Other:PUP-gen ) but it will not resolve.

I downloaded that stupid update THREE (now FOUR) times and it never installs. I searched forums, google, everything and I couldn't find where AutoUpdate keeps it's damn files on a Mac.

Microsoft is starting to get on my nerves. When AutoUpdate is set to check for updates automatically on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, there's no need to search for.

To obtain updates with Office for Mac applications, follow these steps: Microsoft AutoUpdate for Mac, which comes with Office, can keep your Microsoft software up to date.
